Fantasy Tennis Picks: Top DraftKings DFS Vienn...

Who’s up for some late-night tennis DFS? We’re into the quarterfinals at the Vienna Open in Austria and the Astana Open in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan with some huge names on the slate. We’ve got the likes of Novak Djokovic ($11,200), Dominic Thiem ($8,000) and Daniil Medvedev ($10,400) taking center court. With some exciting options to choose from Saudi Arabia, let’s look at who you should consider for your fantasy tennis rosters on DraftKings.

Set your DraftKings fantasy tennis lineups here: TEN $40K Line Painter [$10K to 1st]

High-priced Options

Novak Djokovic ($11,200)

This is yet another no-sweat spot for Djokovic. Lorenzo Sonego ($4,300) really just has his serve going for him — and against perhaps the greatest returner of all time, his power should be easily diffused. Sonego can hit a big ball, but he simply does not have the rally tolerance to hang with the best in the world and also still has not put together an impressive body of work off of clay. Djokovic rolls in two.

Adrian Mannarino ($9,500)

I really want to fade Daniil Medvedev ($10,400) on this slate — who has looked like a shell of the player who wowed us with extraordinary play in the summer of 2019 — so this is the next-highest-priced guy. Mannarino often goes overlooked when it comes to players who could excel on an indoor hardcourt due to his lack of a big powerful weapon. Often times, we look at people with huge serves as the people who flourish here most, but Mannarino’s extremely flat groundstrokes play up incredibly well too. Mackenzie McDonald ($6,000) is over-performing at this tournament, and I expect him to fall back to Earth against a bit more of a consistent opponent. He got away with falling behind by a break numerous times in his two matches. The Frenchman, who just gave Alexander Zverev somewhat of a scare last week, should be too skilled of an opponent for the young American.

Value FLEX Options

Grigor Dimitrov ($8,500)

The cracks are beginning to show for Dan Evans ($6,200), who has played a lot of tennis over the past couple of months. He’s had to claw to get through his past five victories, and has gone three sets in three of his last five matches — excluding his match against Aljaz Bedene, which ended with a retirement. Dimitrov, on the other hand, owns Evans — going 3-1 over his career — and is playing some of the best tennis of his past two seasons, coming from Saudi Arabia a set down to knock off Stefanos Tsitsipas in a thrilling match on Thursday. His level is…

We continue on with the Round of 16 across three tournaments on Thursday, with the women in action at the Ostrava Open and the men split between the indoor hardcourts in Antwerp and Cologne. Coco Gauff ($7,500) will hit the court again, along with fan favorites Denis Shapovalov ($10,000) and Diego Schwartzman ($9,400). Without further ado, let’s take a look at options to consider for your fantasy tennis rosters on DraftKings.

Set your DraftKings fantasy tennis lineups here: TEN $40K Line Painter [$10K to 1st]

High-priced Options

Karen Khachanov ($10,700)

The Russian’s opponent on Thursday, 21-year-old Zizou Bergs ($4,500), came out of nowhere to upset Albert Ramos-Vinolas in Round 1. He is the World No. 528, and hasn’t even competed on the ATP’s second-tier tour, the Challenger Tour, since 2018. He plays mainly ITF events, with players way down in the rankings. Bergs is a nice story, but he is in over his head. Khachanov is one of the world’s most skilled players, and is a lock to take this one in two. Bergs isn’t on the radar of even the diehard tennis fans, he is an unknown.

Denis Shapovalov ($10,000)

Since joining forces with his new coach Mikhail Youzhny, Shapovalov hasn’t taken any tournaments off. The Canadian, once prone to lapses in play and confidence, has not taken his foot off the pedal all year, and is coming off a terrific swing on the clay. He was dominant on the indoor hardcourts in Russia last week, winning three impressive matches in straight sets before losing a tight semifinal match to Andrey Rublev. Gilles Simon ($4,900) is a tricky opponent, taking a set off him at the French Open last month, but I expect Shapovalov to continue his run against the over-the-hill Frenchman.

Also consider: Diego Schwartzman ($9,400)

Value FLEX Options

Jan-Lennard Struff ($8,900)

For my money, Struff should be a much more expensive player. The German showed off how dominating his serve and forehand can be on the fastest surface in tennis on Wednesday, and now runs into Yoshihito Nishioka ($6,000), who is nothing more than a backboard at the baseline. He is a good player, and even worth a DFS dart at times, but this is not the matchup for him. Struff’s power can blow Nishioka off the court, and the German even holds a 1-0 record lifetime against the native of Japan. Struff is a very good player — peaking in his career right now — and is on the upswing once again after a rough couple of weeks. This is a great buy low spot.

False Positive COVID-19 Results a Major Proble...

77 NFL players and team personnel tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday and Sunday, and all of them appear to be false positives.

11 teams including the Bears, Bills, Steelers, Vikings, and Jets all kept their players out of practice after the initial tests indicated their players contracted COVID-19. However after further investigation, the NFL and BioReference Labs, the league’s testing partner, revealed there was a contamination at BioReference’s New Jersey laboratory.

According to a statement by Dr. Jon Cohen, the executive chairman of BioReference labs, the false positives were, “caused by an isolated contamination during test preparation.” Cohen went on to say “possible causes and subsequent testing has indicated that the issue has been resolved. All individuals impacted have been confirmed negative and informed.”

The Field

The Tour heads into the midwest for a two-week stay at one of the more famous Tour venues, Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. The Workday Charity Open is a new event that is replacing the John Deere Classic on the schedule for 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. While the event is new, the venue won’t be, and it will be interesting to see how the players handle playing the same golf course two weeks in a row. Joining us for the first week of play at Muirfield will be the likes of Justin Thomas ($11,100), Jon Rahm ($10,900), Brooks Koepka ($10,400) and last year’s Memorial champ, Patrick Cantlay ($10,600). Again, while there’s technically no defending champion for this week, Cantlay did win on this course last year making him the de facto champ for this week as well.

Other former Muirfield winners in the field include Justin Rose ($9,700; won in 2010), Hideki Matsuyama ($10,000; won in 2014) and Matt Kuchar ($8,500; won in 2013). From a health standpoint, Kevin Na withdrew last week (back) but isn’t in the field here, and there were no reported cases of COVID-19 over the weekend in Detroit. However, be sure you follow DK Live leading up to tee off in case any breaking news in that area develops.

The Course

Muirfield Village—Dublin, Ohio

Par 72, 7,392 yards; Greens: Bentgrass

This week will mark the beginning of a two-week stretch where the players will be at Muirfield Village for two events in a row. While I’ve included parts of my old notes in here for Muirfield Village from Fahad Tamimi previous seasons, it’s important to note that the plan for the Tour is to set up the course differently for both events.

Muirfield will still play as a traditional Par 72 this week that measures between…
