A significant aspect of sports wagering companies across the world has been the importance of educating sports bettors with the dangers of sports betting addiction.
Sports leagues and associations are now contributing to help get the message out.
The American Gaming Association (AGA) and NASCAR are teaming up to educate NASCAR sports betting fans on responsible wagering through the public service campaign “Have a Game Plan Bet Responsibly” by the AGA, revealed in a news release on Thursday.
NASCAR is the first major sports association affiliate to the initiative.
The announcement of Thursday’s collaboration coincides with the AGA ‘s Responsible Gaming Education Week (Sept. 13-19), held annually to highlight the year-round dedication of the gaming industry to responsible gaming programmes fostering openness and gaming awareness for clients.
A compliance process to promote responsible promotion of sports wagering goods was announced on Monday by the AGA.
The auto racing body will create co-branded content under the AGA-NASCAR agreement that enables fresh and experienced sports bettors to “Know When To Pit” and bet responsibly, the release said. It will also create co-branded content for dissemination through its social networks and produce public service announcements that will air through national radio.
NASCAR.com will also create NASCAR.com / betcenter original responsible gaming content that provides fans with stats, odds, and details designed to allow them to make informed decisions in the fantasy and gaming space.
Casey Clark, AGA senior vice president for strategic communications, said in the release: “Legal sports betting allows fans to engage with their favorite drivers and race teams in new, exciting ways. It is critically important to ensure they are informed about how to do so responsibly.
“This partnership further demonstrates NASCAR’s leadership among professional sports on responsible gaming.”
This isn’t the first foray by NASCAR into the sports wagering landscape.
NASCAR has entered into a number of agreements with world-class brands over the last year to prepare the business and its fans for the increasingly rising demand for sports betting.
